It is regarded as an art, a science and a philosophy. The word Yoga derives from the Sanskrit meaning to bind or join. The practice of yoga aims to unite body, mind and spirit.
Yoga helps strengthen and heal the body by the practice of asanas (postures) and pranayama (breathing techniques). Asanas have a benefitial impact on the whole body, toning the muscles, ligaments, joints and nerves, stimulating circulation and improving overall health. They relax and energise the body and mind, allowing recovery from the fatigue and stress of daily life.
